Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh’s most striking feature, the castle dates back to 1130 and dominates the skyline from its position on top of an extinct volcano.

Royal Mile and the Old Town

The Royal Mile (the High Street) stretches from the castle to Holyrood Palace. Full of speciality shops, small restaurants and characterful bars. It is the focal point during the Festival with a carnival atmosphere thanks to the street performers and market stalls.

Palace of Holyrood

This is the official residence of Her Majesty The Queen, which began as a monastery in 1128. The gardens and residence are open to the public unless the Queen is in residence.

Scottish Parliament

Once of the most talked about and expensive buildings in Scotland. Its design has generated many different opinions and it is well worth booking in to one of their tours which explains the workings of the Scottish government and the buildings design.
